Geen prettig debuut voor De Bock bij Leeds United

Laurens De Bock verliest in extremis van Millwall met 3-4

Laurens De Bock had zich zijn debuut bij Leeds wellicht anders voorgesteld. 'De Whites' gingen op eigen veld verrassend onderuit tegen het lager geklasseerde Millwall.

De Bock stond de volledige negentig minuten tussen de lijnen bij zijn nieuwe club. Hij moest machteloos toekijken hoe de bezoekers bij de rust al een 0-2 voorsprong opgebouwd hadden. Bovendien liep ook een ploegmaat van de ex-speler van Club Brugge tegen een rode kaart aan.

Desondanks boog Leeds de achterstand weliswaar nog om in een 3-2 voorsprong. De krachten in de slotfase waren echter helemaal opgebruikt en de bezoekers sloegen nog twee keer toe: 3-4 was de eindstand.

Op drie punten van eindronde

Leeds United zakt daardoor naar de tiende plaats in de rangschikking van de Engelse Championship. Met slechts drie punten achterstand op nummer zes maken ze nog steeds kans om mee te doen aan de eindronde voor de promotie naar de Premier League. De nummers drie tot zes mogen meedoen aan deze eindronde.
