Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) kroont zich tot eerste matchwinnaar van 2019

In Engeland moesten ze Nieuwjaar niet al te hard vieren, want een winterstop is daar onbestaande en op 1 januari ging de 21ste speeldag in de Premier League alweer van start. De eerste matchwinnaar van het jaar? Jamie Vardy.

Everton was over de hele wedstrijd duidelijk beter, maar één bepalende fase zorgde er uiteindelijk voor dat Leicester City de eerste winnaar van het nieuwe jaar werd. 

Op het uur ging verdediger Keane in de fout en via Pereira kon de onvermijdbare Vardy het leer in de verre hoek deponeren. Die 0-1 was direct het eindverdict.
