Everton dieper in het degradatiemoeras na pijnlijke nederlaag op bezoek bij Burnley

Het was centrale verdediger Nathan Collins die Burnley al vroeg op rozen zette. Everton boog de scheve situatie nog voor de koffie helemaal om: Richarlison toonde zich tot twee keer toe feilloos vanop de stip.

Vroeg in de tweede helft zorgde Jay Rodriguez voor de gelijkmaker. De partij leek op een puntendeling af te stevenen, maar vijf minuten voor tijd legde Matej Vydra (ex-Club Brugge) de bal gepast terug, Maxwel Cornet kroonde zich tot matchwinnaar met een droge knal.

Mits winst kon Everton een gouden zaak doen in de strijd om het behoud. Door de nederlaag tegen Burnley zakt de ploeg van Frank Lampard steeds dieper weg in het degradatiemoeras. Het beloven nog erg spannende weken te worden in het blauwe gedeelte van Liverpool.
